A Remote Presentation Robot for Participating in Exhibitions
The TeleAware Robot is an advanced telepresence system designed to enhance remote collaboration by improving environmental and social awareness between remote and local users. It enables remote users to effectively participate in collaborative activities by providing better spatial awareness and communication.
The project involved designing a modular chassis with a dual-motor differential drive and integrating sensors like encoders and IMUs for precise position feedback. For the embedded control system, we used the microcontroller and implemented PID control algorithms for smooth speed regulation and position tracking. Communication protocols were also established to ensure seamless data exchange between the motor drivers and control unit. Additionally, we designed custom PCBs for motor drivers and sensors, added protection circuits, and created wiring diagrams to ensure reliable integration and future maintenance.
For instance, exhibitions or events where physical presence is required for guidance. When a person cannot be on-site, the robot acts as a substitute, providing a sense of being physically present.
It allows remote users to navigate the venue and interact with the environment as if they were there in person. The robot is equipped with interactive systems, including a guided path and shoulder-touch sensors for human-robot interaction, enabling a more immersive and intuitive remote presence experience.
